I had the opportunity to enjoy Sanford’s Christmas Parade on Sunday with my family. Day or Night……Sunday or Monday……I love a parade.
There has been different opinions voiced concerning the whys, and the whens, of this event. Nobody likes change…….Like it or not, this was a positive for our community. I’d like to thank Bob Joyce and Jenifer St.Clair of the Chamber of Commerce for taking on this task and working hard to make this parade a success.

Congratulations to everyone that worked to put together this year’s Christmas parade. It was much more comfortable to have the parade during the day, plus one could actually see everyone. Last year most spectators were too busy trying not to freeze instead of socialize!
Also I think this year’s parade was “right sized”. Last year we seemed to have a lot of non-specific “fluff” in the parade, many cars and trucks basically undecorated, etc… which made for a somewhat boring and very long experience. This year we seemed to have a good mix of actual floats, not too many, and I think just about every vehicle had some Christmas theme going except for a few trucks/trailers.
Anyway, great work by the Chamber and the City, and it is much appreciated.
I’m sure some may be “unimpressed” with small town parades, but “you don’t know what you’ve got until it is gone” … as they say, and that is true. It is events like this that keep local community spirit alive, especially for the kids.
Thanks!
